Giving Birth
Boy, was labor a huge struggle. I ended up being in labor for about 15 hours, this being early and active labor. The reason being because I was such a lazy butt while I was pregnant. I learned the hard way of realizing tat being active during pregnancy is super important. It was not fun. It is said that being active during pregnancy will amke labor much easier. SO LADIES, EXERCISE! If I have one piece of advice to give to mothers, it is to exercise while you are pregnancy - of course in a healthy and safe way.
Anyway, one day I noticed my "Braxton Hicks" were getting much more painful - to the point I had to stop what I was doing to take a breath. I went in to see my OBGYN to check and she said I was only 2cm dilated and to call back when I'm having actual contraction. Ooooh lovely, I thought to myself, if this is just 2cm, what the heck will 10 cm feel like. I go on with my day as usual, with my already agonizing contractions. Around 1am the following morning, I begin to notice my contractions coming every three minutes and it was becoming much more harder to bare. I finally decided to head to the ER.

I arrived there around 2am and they checked me. I was only 3cm dilated... Like what the heck!!! Only 3cm??? They asked if I wanted epidural and I declined because at that time, I wanted to take it like a champ. They then recommended that I walk around the delivery area to help with dilating. But that was extremely hard. My contractions were coming every minute or so and it was just horrific pain. I always stopped and squeezed my partner. I always felt like just sitting on the ground because standing seemed too much for it. I couldn't take it anymore so I decided to just lay back down in the room. After a few hours of just laying and trying to cope with my contractions, the nurses checked again and I was still 3cm dilated. At that point, I gave up on trying to be a champ. I said, "F*** it, give me that damn epidural." It was around 4am when I finally got the epidural. Let me just tell you, that is a magic needle. I did not feel any of the contractions at first. I completely knocked out after I got it. It was my life saver for a good few hours.
Fast forward to the deliver. It was about 3pm when they told me it was time to start pushing. I pushed for only one hour, which all the nurses said is really good for the first time. I guess I was lucky in that aspect. I gave birth to my daughter on April 27, 2019 and we named her Skylar Jane Medina. It had been a hard and emotional ride since then, but it is definitely rewarding to see a baby your made grow and become their own little person.
