Winter is Coming!

Don't you just love it when you get to finally get all cozy in sweats and sweaters when the cold season comes? Or even when you're in bed, that moment you cozy up underneath the warm blanket? I know I do. It's just so comforting and relaxing. Lucky for us adults and older kids, we're able to experience that warmth. But unfortunately for newborns and infants, they can't get too cozy like we do. Blankets are a no no, especially in the first year of age. This is because it can become dangerous and lead to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

So what can we do to help warm them up during the chilly, winter seasons? The main and safest thing to do is to bundle them up with layers. Depending on whether your little one is staying indoors or going outdoors, the layers vary. I personally try not to over-layer my daughter because that could end up making her too hot later on. Here are a few examples of what could work:

Outside, during the day/night: long sleeve cotton pajama, sweats, jacket, hat, mitts, socks, and booties. (If needed extra warmth, a blanket is okay to use only if you are always watching and keeping an eye on it.

Bedtime (depending on coldness): long sleeve pajama and socks OR long sleeve onesie, long sleeve warm, fleece-type of material pajama, and socks.

Extras that can provide additional help if needed:
Thick, long sleeve pajama onesie
