Visiting Home! (Preparing to Travel)

I'm finally going back to Hawai'i after a long year of not visiting. I'm so excited!!! We leave this Wednesday. As much as I'm excited to see everyone, I'm dreading the flight a little extra this time around because it's the first time we're flying with our baby girl. We've done a little bit of research and I've been nonstop asking my friends who have flown with their children, for some advice. Here some things we've purchased and are preparing to have on hand for the flight itself.

1. Toys, Toys, Toys, and maybe an Extra Toy.

I've read that majority of the flight will consist of trying to entertain your child. Which makes sense because if they're entertained and enjoying it, they won't have time to cry and fuss around. We're bringing a lot of her little toys and teething rings so that she can play with them. We also bought a new toy that we will introduce to her on the flight, that way when she gets bored with her old toys, this new toy will enlighten her playfulness again.

2. Milk, Water, and Food

This is a given. Your baby is gonna get hungry so we're making sure we are loaded with formula, water, and solids. For my daughter, drinking her milk calms her down. Even if we're not likely to feed her solids on the plane, it's reassuring that it's at least available to have just in case we need it.

3. Teething Tablets

I've never heard about this until one of my friends told me about it. She used it on her daughter when she first flew with her and she said that it definitely worked. My little one is teething right now so I figured I can use all the help I can get.

4. Extra Clothes and Bibs

Our little one is one heck of a drooler. She also has blowouts from time to time. So we're being extra prepared by having backup clothes in the case she has a blowout or if she makes a mess with her bottle. Bibs are extremely helpful as well for when she does drool all over the place. It saves an outfit.

5. Ear Plugs

This isn't something that's for your child. This is for your neighbors that is forced to sit on a 5-hour flight near a crying baby (if your baby is fussy on the plane ride, which I'm praying Sky will not be). This is definitely something that we personally chose to get just because we don't want to be a nuisance to anyone.
